Pre-Easter fun
This is the first year that Micah has been old enough to really engage in some fun pre-Easter rituals. So yesterday, we engaged. First up was cookie-making. Clearly we used the packaged stuff
but it's because I know our son. He's not the most patient boy, and he's really just learning that trait. It was hard enough for him to wait the eight minutes for the cookies to bake and the five minutes for them to cool. If I had insisted he wait longer in the creation process, I don't think he would have been able to take it!
Notice in this picture how I demonstrated placing the cookies on the sheet in rows and Micah decided he likes his a little more haphazardly placed.
The best part!
He ate two and asked for more throughout the day. I'm thinking it was a success!
Later in the day we dyed Easter eggs. This was a little rougher; it's hard to explain the concept of "permanent dye" to a 2 1/2 year old who likes to splash. But he did a good job, first with the green
and then with the yellow.
Proudly posing with his Easter eggs! Isn't it funny that they always end up tinted brown??
Don't worry that Liam wasn't around or involved. While he may not have had his hands on any food products just yet, he had his own fun yesterday. He is getting so strong and stands on his own for four or five seconds at a time now. Yesterday I thought he was going to do a pull-up on the chair where J.P. was eating lunch. He's not all that interested in food, so I think he was just checking things out.
When we dyed eggs, he was close by in his exersaucer, enjoying the toys for a few minutes. Look at that beautiful smile!
