Just Your Average Friday

It's Trike-a-Thon time at Preschool again!!  This is Liam's last year participating, so the event was a little bittersweet.  He decided that he did not want to ride his bike this year, but instead he wanted to use his scooter.  So he did.  In Micah's first Trike-a-Thon, he pushed a bubble mower instead of riding a bike, so it's only fitting that Liam deviate from the norm in his last one.
He's ready to go!
And they're off...
It was a little challenging to keep up with the other kids at times, especially the ones who have already ditched the training wheels.  But our guy kept up.  He's very into saying, "I'm doing my best", and he stopped in the middle of the event today to tell me that he had to take a break because he was working hard and doing his best. :)
You're supposed to decorate your bikes/scooters.  There's not very much room to decorate on a scooter, so we went simple this year and Liam had a "Jingle Scooter", complete with bells that let people know where he was at all times.
Post-'Thon popsicle.
Vivi got into the action on Liam's friend's bike.  This time next year, baby, and you'll be in the race.
After school was out, it was time for the first swim lessons of the year.  Oh my goodness were the boys excited to get back in the pool!  And Vivi was excited just because they were excited!  Liam was up first.  I think he had a good time getting back in the water.
He jumped right in.
Micah particularly enjoyed counting the money that's inside the eggs he has to swim out to and bring back.
And then he jumped in too!
Finally it was Viv's turn to get in.  And she got right in!
We aren't totally sure, but we think she loved it.  What do you think?

She even put her face in the water for a little bit, although we think she drank some of the pool when she did.  Can't get enough "agua" in our girl.
Trying on Ms. Marcia's goggles.
At the end of each lesson, Ms. Marcia has the kids float on their backs.  Viv was a little tentative, but she eventually got the hang of it.  What was most fascinating about her floating though, was that she didn't curl her toes.  One of the reasons that she wears the braces is that she habitually girls her toes while she's walking.  In the pool, she let go and so did her feet.  It was a beautiful thing to watch.  Here's hoping being in the water will continue to help her - and bring her joy!

Micah's Spring Concert

Micah was so so so excited for his spring concert last night.  He gave us the play-by-play as to what we should expect and told us exactly where to sit so that we could have the best view of him and his class. When he came out with his class, he was trying so hard not to look at me, but the cute little smile gave away that he was also sneaking glances.
And then he just couldn't stop looking.
That is, when he wasn't looking at what was going on on the stage.  As Tim said, he's a fan first and a participant second - even when he's actually supposed to be participating.
 Just love that sweet face.
In one song, he was one of the ones from his class that played the rhythm sticks.  He did a great job!  We are so proud of him how hard he worked.
I took several videos of them singing, but this is the only one that would upload.  You won't see much of Micah until then end, but then you can tell that he's into it. Great job, Micah!

An Easter Miracle - a New Blog Post!

I was reminded by a friend that I have two blogs, not just one, and my poor family blog has been neglected for too long.  Since the last post was Christmas, I thought it only fitting that the next post was Easter!
We were looking forward to Easter in a new way this year since it's Vivi's first with us.  She had no idea what she was in for at the church Easter Egg Hunt but Micah tried to fill her in before it got started.
Her first egg!
The pro getting started on his hunt.
This was the best shot I could get of Micah. He was determined to get as many eggs as possible and wasn't going to be slowed down by a pesky mother who wanted a picture.
Once she realized that there was candy in the eggs, she was done.  Instead of searching for more eggs, she just wanted to stop and eat all the candy she already had.
This is Vivi's "What do you mean I can't eat ALL of my candy right now???" face.
"Um, Mom, my brothers are a little crazy.  Maybe you were on to something when you wanted me to limit the sugar because they have clearly had too much!"
They can all sit together.  And smile!
At home, we got ready to dye our eggs.
All done!

Tasting the final product.  Despite how much of it she fit in her mouth, she wasn't a big fan of the taste.
The Easter bunny came!
Posing for a picture before Micah came outside.
Pretty girl in her beautiful Easter dress.  Thank you Aunt Deci and Uncle Ryan!!
When did he get so grown up???
Mr. J. Crew himself.
It's impossible to believe that Vivi hasn't always been with us.  She has just fit right in.
We managed to get a picture of the five of us at church today.  Not our best effort, but we're all in it!
