At the beach with Grandpa

Here's Micah (in his same cute beach outfit as the last time he was there) with Grandpa on the beach. We had a good time playing and walking. It's been beautiful weather for his visit and we really took advantage of it with our trip today.

Grandpa Williams helps Micah celebrate his 31st week!

Being that Micah is Tim's son, it was only a matter of time before Micah started wearing plaid. :) Here he is, all happy to be off to daycare in a few minutes. The other night we were having dinner and we brought Micah over to sit near us. I grabbed the camera because I thought he looked so cute sitting lower to the floor than us and playing with his toys while we ate. When I took Micah for a walk yesterday afternoon, I dressed him in a hat that keeps him all covered and protected from the sun. He's started doing this funny sucking on his bottom lip thing - maybe it was a reaction to the hat? Grandpa Williams is famous for his human swing. Finally Micah is old enough to enjoy it! (We think three weeks old may have been a little young.:) This is the swing getting going. Notice that Micah's still finding a way to suck his thumb, even while swinging. And here's the end product - a really happy Micah and Grandpa!

Egg Hunting with Friends!

This morning was the annual Easter egg hunt at First Presbyterian. Because it was Micah's first egg hunt and he's too young to actually hunt the eggs, I allowed him to dress casually... in his basketball romper instead of his Easter clothes. It ends up that that was an unfortunate decision because of the photo op below. Micah would be the bright orange kid in the middle of the pastels! Left to right, these are his friends Nathaniel, Lloyd, and Soleil. All Micah was really interested in was taking Soleil's shoes - forget about the candy! They all had fun playing and hanging out together, and it makes us smile that Micah already has a great group of church friends with whom he can play.

A Not-so-good Good Friday

So our little boy spent Good Friday home sick. Well, more accurately, he spent Good Friday church sick. First he spent the morning with Daddy at his church, then the afternoon with Mommy at hers before going to the nursery for the Tenebrae service. As always, he was such a trouper and really tolerated the day well. He has a pretty good cold, a nice cough, is still battling the ear infection, and can't seem to shake a low-grade fever. We hope that with a good night's sleep he'll be better tomorrow. Notice how big his stomach looks in this picture though. No matter if he feels well or not he still doesn't miss a meal. The only difference is that he stops to suck his thumb more - and consequently give his mom more laundry to do! I just thought I'd include this picture because he looked so cute when he was doing his weekly sucking on his sign. You can tell that he doesn't feel well. He looks a little woozy!

Micah's Big Day

This morning we took Micah to get his Easter pictures taken at Sears. We were reminded, as we are each time we go, that portrait studios have a way of taking pictures so that they make your (already adorable) baby even more adorable. So we went in there knowing basically what we wanted to spend and ended up spending more. But we were really happy with the results. Some are posted below, although the best ones are on order and we'll get them in two weeks. This one printed a little bright - Micah almost blends in with the background! We need to get him out in the Florida sun. Don't the vest and pants look cute on him? Here's to consignment shopping - the vest cost 90 cents! The redness of his chin is really obvious in this picture. According to Micah's pediatrician, sucking his thumb traps all kinds of moisture in that area, which results in a continuous irritated area. We still think he's cute. :) This last shot was clearly not taken by Sears. This is the look Micah got on his face when we gave him real bananas (not the baby food kind) this weekend for the first time. He's just about ready to do solid foods. We had his six-month checkup today and he's 21 pounds (89th percentile), 28.5 inches (93 percentile), and his head is 17.25 inches (39th percentile). We're happy to report that his head is catching up with the rest of his body! He's sleeping off his shots as I write this. We're glad that we were going for this checkup because we also found out that Micah has picked up an ear infection. He's starting his antibiotics tonight so hopefully he'll feel better soon.

A day late...

...but rest assured that the picture was taken on Friday morning! Here's the one I like, but I guess I'm unwilling to make it the official picture because I'm too into being ale to see his face. Micah greatest fascination now is with paper. Any piece of paper that I hold in my hands - mail, his daily childcare report, a church bulletin - is something that he will play with and suck on for a long time. It's getting to the point that it takes a joint effort between both Tim and me to be able to get a Friday picture now because unless he's sufficiently distracted, Micah sees that paper with his weekly age on it and just goes for it. Maybe I should be concerned...Here's what we'll call the offical portrait! Aunt Heidi bought Micah a Phillies outfit while we were at the game with her a couple of weeks ago. Here is Micah modeling it (first thing in the morning) before he proudly wore it to daycare this week. I didn't get to post until this morning because we spend last night at a big function for Tim's church. Derek and Rebekah (the senior pastor of Tim's church and her husband) played iwth Tim for a concert at a member's home. It was a great event - lots of laughter, singing, and talking with one another, not to mention the wonderful entertainment. The Poirson boys and the Donovan girls joined Rebekah on the hymn, "Here I Am, Lord". Great job Caitlyn, Noah, Kirstyn, and Jacob! You guys were wonderful! Here are Derek and Rebekah joined by their daughter Naomi, who also has a wonderful voice. We'll miss her when she and her husband Craig move to Connecticut next week, but we know they'll really enjoy their new life up north, where sixty degrees is considered warm, not cold! Finally, I don't have a picture of it, but it was great to hear Tim sing the song that he wrote and sang for me when he proposed 4 1/2 years ago. I have to mention that because, although it was different hearing it this time with a baby bottle replacing the ring, I still love that he wrote a song just for me and I'm glad he wanted to share it.

Can't Help But Compare...

When Micah was born, everyone commented on how much he looked like Tim - fine with me because I think Tim is pretty cute. But as he's grown, we've noticed how great of a blend he is of the two of us. This is Tim at 11 months and me at six months...

And if you take Tim's hair, my eyes, Tim's nose and the lower half of my face, look who you get - Micah!!

Of course, we love him for who he is, and he's already definitely his own person. He's more laid back, easy-going, and go-with-the-flow than either one of us. So Micah truly is the best of both of us, both in his looks and his personality. We love you, Micah!

28 weeks and into everything

The biggest thing that we've noticed about Micah in the last week is his curiosity. He can't explore the things around him enough. He's always grabbing, eager to touch and too often taste. Tonight we were at a rehearsal dinner for our friends who Tim is marrying tomorrow, and Micah was eyeing up my fork with cheesecake. I let him put the fork in his mouth when I was done. The resulting look of uncertainty on his face was priceless, but I love his desire to try new things and test out his world. Here's his curiosity getting the better of him during this morning's photo session. That paper was too enticing to not go after...so he did!

A weekend with Aunt Heidi

Micah (and Tim and I) had a great weekend visiting with Aunt Heidi. We headed to the beach on Friday, and Micah got to wear the adorable outfit that Heidi gave to him around the time he was born. Hey - it's Polo! He looked so stylish.

Although we've taken him walking on the beach before and we had our Christmas pictures taken there, this was really the first time that Micah got to play in the sand. We lathered him up with sunscreen and turned him loose. He loved the texture of the sand and ran his fingers through it a lot. He even started to play with toys we picked up for him. And then he got tired of the hat. Luckily the umbrella kept him out of the direct sun. Notice the tiny Crocs he's wearing! Tim and I haven't jumped on the Crocs bandwagon ourselves, but these were the only shoes that the CVS had in his size and I wanted him to have something to protect his feet. Aunt Heidi and Micah enjoy the warm weather together in Redington Shores. It was 14 degrees when Heidi left Boston so a day in the 80 degree weather at the beach was a great change for her! Micah got pretty tired toward the end of our beach time, which included a walk with Mom - although he rode in the Snugli. When we got back, I laid Micah down, but the sand was blowing a little in the wind and some got in his eyes. Although he didn't cry, he didn't really like it so we packed up and left.

That night before bed, Micah had some fun with his aunt. Yeah, he's got a lot of chins...

Monday brought a trip to Clearwater to see a spring training baseball game between the Phillies and the Pirates. Here's Ryan Howard, a great home run hitter for the Phils, although we didn't see any homeruns today. We were sitting pretty close to the action though!

...which we replaced with his Pirates outfit halfway through the game so that Micah could show his support for both teams equally.
