Preschool Spring Pageant
Micah has had a nasty cold since Sunday morning, complete with a little fever. We kept him home from school on Monday, and are so grateful that he was feeling better in time for last night's pageant! It would have been such a shame for him to miss it after all the practicing he's done with his class.
We realized on the way that we forgot the stroller that we wanted to use to contain Liam. So instead of dealing with this
crazy (and apparently handless) child, I found a wonderful church member who had come just to see the performance (i.e. she didn't have any kids in the show) and asked if she would take care of Liam so Tim and I could concentrate on watching - and filming - Micah. She loves our boys and loved to take Liam for us. Thanks, Elizabeth!

Getting ready for their first song. Notice his toes are very deliberately on the blue line, as instructed by his teachers.
The whole class. And yes, the girl next to him is in his class. She turned three a week or so after preschool started so she is almost a whole year older and a whole head taller than Micah!
If you'll recall the Christmas concert, Micah spent most of the time standing in the front, alternately sucking his thumb and turning around to see the people standing behind him. He surprised us this time by actually singing some of the time and really looking like he was enjoying it. Here is a clip of their first song, "Rock-a-Bye Your Bear."
Pretty pleased with himself at the end of the song!
Their second song, "Tony Chestnut." (Hopefully you get the title by the end of the clip!)
Always good to give yourself a round of applause too!

Then everyone stood up to do the group finale, "Jesus, Jesus" which I posted a clip of him practicing at home a couple of months ago. He was getting a little tired by that point, so the thumb came out and the belly button got a little rub while he was waiting with his buddy Lloyd for the song to start.
He rallied to get into the song!

A comparison
Tim thought it would be interesting to post pictures of the boys side by side. It's hard to tell in these pictures because the photos aren't taken from exactly the same distance, but I think Liam's the bigger guy. Micah may have weighed just as much (look at that chubby tummy!) but Liam is a little longer and just a little more solid overall, if you know what I mean. When I take Liam for his one year checkup, I'll post their one year pics and stats so we'll know for sure.
What we know for sure now is that they're both so darn adorable!!

Liam is 48 weeks old today
Liam is really getting into the spirit of the weekly picture. Too bad we can't go back in time and redo the first few months where he cried or looked miserable during almost every one! It's such a contrast to the child that sits in the chair today.

Visit with Grandma!
Grandma Black just visited from California!
She came on Saturday afternoon and left on Tuesday morning, so we had an action-packed few days taking her on what I'm now calling the "Micah Tour" - all the same places we take all of our visitors because it's what Micah loves to do. Eventually we'll see other places in Florida!
Grandma came with gifts, and Micah's was this really cool 4-ft long firetruck puzzle. I couldn't get him to lay down next to it; this picture is as close as he got. But he has a lot of fun with it!
We rode the monorail and ate at McDonald's at Downtown Disney. Grandma and Micah explored the ginormous giraffe outside of the Rainforest Cafe.

Spring Break
It's our first experience caring about spring break for 12 years - the last time one of us was in school. Micah has this week off. We started off our week with a trip to Disney on Monday. We headed out earlier in the day to work with the boys' schedules better. Here's Liam taking a little stroll in the Winnie the Pooh playground...
...and here's the video clip of it. By the way, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to rotate this clip. If anyone knows how to do this and can help me, please leave a comment with instructions!!
Micah not only likes his own belly button, but he likes to show Liam his.
Liam conked out in his stroller as we were leaving the Magic Kingdom and slept almost all the way to Epcot.
Micah was close, but never went to sleep until the car ride home.

Tim and I both have memories of going to Disney when we were little and being able to pick out one stuffed animal. For as many times as we've been to Disney, we haven't purchased much of anything for the boys except for food. (Micah has a Lightning McQueen shirt on, and a woman behind us on the train asked me if I had gotten the shirt there in the Magic Kingdom. I told her nope - garage sale for 50 cents. A little better deal, I think.)
At any rate, Tim had some money left on a gift card, so we decided to splurge twelve whole dollars and let Micah pick out his own stuffed animal. He chose Mickey Mouse, who now goes everywhere with us.

On Tuesday, we were outside of our house for a bit, walking around the block and enjoying the beautiful temperate day. We know that all too soon we'll be stuck inside all day because of the brutal Florida sun so we're trying to get out as much as we can now.
Micah decided to put his feet on top of the mold that Tim made for me for Mother's Day last year. You can't quite tell, but the foot imprints beneath are much smaller than his feet now, showing me that he really is growing up right before my eyes.
Liam liked hanging out on a blanket chewing on Spiderman.
I liked taking pictures of his beautiful little toes.
Riding his big wheel. Turns out, riding it is almost as fun as pushing it.
For some reason, I love this picture of the two of them (four, including Mickey and Spiderman).

If you look closely at his waist, you can see the dark color that is the top of his underpants. That's right - we may have had fun at Disney on Monday, but don't be too envious. The rest of this week is all about this:
staying in and potty-training Micah. I want him to be able to do Vacation Bible School at church this summer, as well as at least one of the preschool camps. He can't do any of those if he's not potty-trained. He's been doing really well, and in fact, just went poo-poo on the potty. I woke up Liam from his nap because I was celebrating so much. Who ever thought I would care so much about someone else's bowel movements?
Finally, another sign of some non-fun this week: the collection of items that Micah left outside of his door while he was not napping yesterday. An interesting array, I thought. His Pooh book, a toy fire truck, and his dirty socks. Wonder what message he was trying to send...

Liam is 46 weeks old today
Liam is 46 weeks old today! It's hard to believe we only have six more pictures to take before he's a year old.
We have enjoyed showing Pop-Pop the local mall. He's seen it before, but with Micah chatting the whole time, it's a brand-new experience. Micah likes to show Pop-Pop the bus, and look who he let drive the bus!!
Looking a little bewildered as to how this driving thing actually works. Especially because the bus is inexplicably British and he's clearly more used to driving American vehicles.
The only issue is that now the kids know that the rides actually move. B.P. (before Pop-Pop), we had them fooled into thinking that sitting on the ride was the whole experience. There's no turning back now!
Micah's new obsession is the roller coaster. He actually thinks he likes it more than he does. Here Pop-Pop is loading the machine for the big ride.

Monorail with Pop-Pop
Micah's Pop-Pop is visiting this week from Pittsburgh, and Micah has been talking non-stop about showing him the monorail. So we trekked over to Disney (do you ever get tired of us going to Disney? I swear that's what half of our pictures are of!) and we all rode the monorail together.

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter from our family to yours!
It's hard to get to perfect shot, especially when your husband is the pastor and so he's been at church since 6 a.m. and isn't around to help. So here are a couple of other cute tries.
We did try to take a family picture after Easter services were over. I had changed out of my dress into jeans and a less formal top because I was in the nursery for the 11:00 service. Other than that, it's a pretty good picture.
The Easter Bunny comes to our house on Easter evening, when all church activities are totally done and, in yesterday's case, Pop-Pop is picked up from the airport. Micah got some new sunglasses in his basket.
Liam didn't really care what he got. It was just cool to play with the basket. Basket, cardboard box, you know the drill. The container is always more interesting than what's inside of it!
Except maybe when what's inside is a book you can chew on.
Pop-Pop came with Easter gifts too, one of which was a small light that Micah had fun learning how to shine.
Looking at some of the chocolate goodies that came from Pittsburgh. Mmmm, Sarris chocolate...
