Micah had yesterday off from school. Something about a makeup day from Good Friday, which he actually had off from school but I guess the public schools didn't get that day. Not totally sure, but we went with it and decided to take the kids to the zoo. We had passes that got Tim and me in (thanks, Wendy and Lloyd!) and the boys were free so we walked around for a few hours and saw lots of fun things.
The one animal Micah kept asking to see was the giraffe so we headed there first. At the Lowry Park Zoo, they have an area where you can buy a cracker and actually feed it to the giraffe. Here's Micah, waiting for his turn to "give the nice man his money" so that he can get the cracker.

How cool is this??? Totally worth the $2 for the cracker.

They had a petting zoo filled with lots of goats.
Micah was showing Liam all the koi in the pond.
If there's a train anywhere, we have to ride it. Micah totally could have done this on his own but zoo policy said I had to go with him. Why don't they make those cars a little bigger if that's their policy??
We had a good time despite my sore knees!
Liam watches the train, mesmerized. One day soon, baby, you'll be big enough to ride too!

Micah getting acquainted with the turtle. I thought it was really interesting that the turtle actually had moss growing on its shell.
We found a pretty lame merry-go-round but, at 50 cents, it was cheaper than the truck in the gift shop that Micah
really wanted. So we let him ride. Interestingly, this merry-go-round is supposed to be for kids three and older. Micah is 2 1/2 and look how he barely fit!
Liam got on for about ten seconds before it stopped.
We thought this shot of the chimpanzee peeking out from underneath the blanket was hysterical!

The chimps were the last animals we saw during our time at the zoo. It was off to McDonald's we went...
Just want to note that we do go places other than Disney!! :)
