Kennywood

On Sunday, we headed to Kennywood. Oh my goodness, loads of fun. It had been at least six years since I have been to the park and a lot longer than that since I rode the kiddie rides or even set foot in Kiddieland. A few things have changed, and I have to say that, even with Disney practically in our backyard, it was good to be at my home amusement park, and I really was impressed by the rides they had for the kids. The ride operators were another story. Suffice it to say that 16-year-old boys who clearly have more concern for their Justin Bieber haircuts than they do for putting my kid correctly in the seat of the ride are not my favorite people. But I digress... Micah hit the helicopters first. Liam really wanted to go. He was actually able to ride a good number of the Kiddieland rides since all that was required was that he walk independently. Yeah, he can do that. Ah, the Kennywood arrow. Okay, not the Kennywood arrow, but one of a myriad uses of them around the park. Then he rode the motorcycles. On each ride, he was really hesitant at first, like he was trying to figure out how everything worked. Once he did though, he loved it. But notice the tentative smile on his face. They both rode the swings. They've done that at Busch Gardens and loved it. No different this time. Check out the look on his face!! Loving riding the train with Aunt Heidi. Loving riding the train with Mum-Mum. Micah flew the airplane, but it never left the ground. Despite repeated instructions, both gently told before he got on the ride and yelled to him as the ride circled around, we could not get him to find the stick (so clearly visible in this picture) in the plane to get it to go off the ground. He seemed to like it anyway. Aunt Heidi took Liam on the "big boy cars". That's Micah's term. Pop-Pop and Micah taking off. Aunt Heidi and Liam hitting the track. Ahhh. Dinner. I'm sorry, but those of you from Pittsburgh understand this picture. Those of you who aren't, there's no way to explain it. Getting ready for the kiddie version of the Whip. It's hard to tell from these pictures, but oh my goodness, did they love this ride. Micah loved it so much that he wanted to ride it again later. Aunt Heidi and Micah rode the Crazy Trolley. Before the ride. Micah's comment while they were up in the air like this? "Wow, this is a crazy trolley." Already with the dry sense of humor. Told you they loved it. :)
