Ringing in 2009 on the Beach
It has nothing to do with our time at the beach, but here's Heinz curled up next to Micah's Christmas present. He's found a new friend in the dog chair.
Our friends from Tim's congregation let us borrow their beach condo again and it was a great place to spend the last few days of 2008. Sunshine, sand, peace and quiet. This is just a cute Micah shot that Daddy took while we were playing on the beach.
Loving his little shadow.
Our good friends the Johnsons spent a few days visiting us from the frozen tundra of Pittsburgh. The temperature was in the lower 70's for their visit so it was beautiful. It was a great chance for Chloe and Micah to get to know one another since the last time they had really spent time together was last Chrismtas. They adjusted to life together fairly well, although sharing his toys is rough for Micah even if he's not in his home environment. In this picture they're strolling on the beach. At first Micah had no desire to hold Chloe's hand, but she was persistent, and pretty soon they were walking together. We're planning on showing this at their wedding in a few years. :)
The water was pretty darn cold (67 degrees) but that didn't stop Chloe (and, consequently, Chad) from running right into the surf.
He's already growing up so quickly, so I thought I would capture his little footprints in the sand while they're still little.
Micah loves the birds on the beach. In this picture, he's running on the beach heading for the birds. Although those birds let you get closer than birds in other places, his thrill was really in the chase.
Little boys eat sand. When their mothers forget to pack their swimsuit on a trip to the beach, they sit on the shore in their clothes, dip their fingers in the really interesting texture of the sand, and give it a taste.
We visited a bird sanctuary while we were there because Micah became obsessed with the birds on the beach. We thought he might enjoy seeing some birds up close - and behind a fence. Here's one of the pelicans that was wandering around.
This poor rescued bird didn't have any eyes. We're not sure of his story, but we're glad he has a safe place to live.
Sure enough, Micah loved to look at all of the different types of birds.
Micah and Daddy with Chloe and her dad Chad. Chad had a REALLY good time seeing the birds.
