Tim's birthday

Tim's birthday was Sunday, and it was a really busy day for him.  He was at church from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., then back again from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  Not unusual, necessarily, but just unfortunate that he had to be there so much on his birthday.
We got takeout from Outback to celebrate, and I made Tim a spice cake. Gluten free, of course, but the really expensive good mix that actually tastes normal. Well, more normal.
Here are the boys, eagerly anticipating the birthday dinner. Or entranced by "The Polar Express".
Micah excitedly awaits the revealing of the cake.

Liam was thinking, "I'm not really sure what's going on with the fire, but it's kind of cool."
The finished product.  Tim had asked for spice, Micah asked for it to be Toy Story, and I didn't have enough candles or enough icing to write anything.  So the end result was Buzz and Woody looking happy, the number 3 followed by six candles, and Tim's name written in (really stale) candy hearts. Creativity at its finest.
Happy Birthday, Tim!!
Making a wish.
A great thing was celebrating Tim's birthday, and enjoying the company of my best friend Sarah, who was visiting for just a night.  A bad thing was realizing that I didn't take any pictures of her with the kids.  Or me. Or Tim. Or the dogs.  But she really was here!
Thank you, Sarah, for including us on your visit and for being such a good sport to just hang around the house, go to CVS, and be here when I was trying to pull it all together to start work the next morning!
