47 weeks and a big...well, week

I have to confess - we cheated this week. We just took Micah's 47 week picture today instead of Friday. I know, I know. We're such slackers. Actually, we remembered, but we were in Pittsburgh and didn't have the sign. Yesterday was a blur of flying and getting ready for Sunday, but today, after his nap, we snapped this picture of a smiley 47-week-old boy. Don't you just love the Heinz ketchup shirt that his cousins got him for Christmas? We spent a couple of days last week in Philadelphia celebrating the life of Tim's Grandma Black. Below is a collage of a lot of different pictures from her life, of the people that were important to her. The service was a moving testament to a life well lived. We're so glad that we were able to be there to remember her. This is Tim with four of his cousins. There was talk of photoshopping in both Tom and Matt, who were missing, but since I can't do that this picture will have to do! Tim hadn't seen his cousins in a long time, and I was meeting most of them for the first time. They're all wonderful people, really sweet and welcoming. Getting to meet them was a highlight of the trip. This is all of us - the cousins and their families, minus one spouse and a set of children. It's crazy how families multiply! Before we left, I got Micah some "biter biscuits", which supposedly teach him how to bite and chew. Really I think that the only thing they teach him is how to make a mess. The things turned into complete mush and I'm not sure that Micah digested any of the one he had. This is what happens after you eat a biter biscuit. :)While we were in Pittsburgh, it was Grandma Williams's birthday. Happy Birthday! This is the cake that Grandpa Williams got for Grandma. We all got a kick out of what was written on it, and we suspect that the employees of the bakery from which it came are still giggling about it today. It seems that Grandma is the "swinger" of Hiddenbrook, according to Grandpa. We learned that he meant it as a golf term (hence the decorations on the cake), but we had great fun with the alternative meaning.Micah got a new pair of shoes while we were up north. Although I feel like it's much easier for him to learn to walk without shoes, it's a little disconcerting when you see how dirty your son's feet can become through the course of the day when he doesn't ever wear shoes. So here's Micah trying to take some steps. It didn't go so well, but we'll keep working on it.Micah and Mommy celebrating his new shoes. Uncle Ryan and Aunt Deci got a great present while we were there. Their Steelers season tickets arrived in the mail!! Here Uncle Ryan poses proudly with the tickets. Maybe he'll take Micah to a game one day!
