After the Chicago portion of our trip was over, we flew to California to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Our hotel had a rockin' koi pond, which brought fond memories for Tim and me of our honeymoon in Hawaii. A hotel janitor let the boys feed them one morning and it was like they (and the fish!) had won the lottery!
One of the things we knew we needed to do was hit the mall with the sole purpose of letting the boys just have an open space to run. Going to mall at 10:00 on a Monday morning means having the place pretty much to yourself, so the boys had a field day going here and there and trying out rides.
Grandma watched Micah pretend to drive the race car.
Liam found a friend from home.
Next stop? The gorgeous redwoods, which also lets the kids run. We saw these trees on our last visit to CA, but requested to go again because it's just an amazing sight. Someone once said, "There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it." Well, our hearts were quiet but our boys were not. Still, we couldn't help but feel surrounded by majesty.
Seriously, they were tall.
Micah had fun in the roots of a fallen tree.
Liam got a little behind at one point, so he ran to catch up.
Could he be cuter??

Run, run, as fast as you can!
Grandpa encouraged the running in the trees.
A little perspective.
At the beginning/end of the trail is a gift shop with a train set running in it. I think this may have been the boys' favorite part. They could have watched for days. Thankfully the store closed about 20 minutes after we got there, so there was an enforced limit to the viewing!
Liam was ready to drive the motor home!
More California adventures coming soon...
