Micah's first trip to the dentist!

Tim took Micah to the dentist for his very first cleaning today.  I had only talked with him briefly about it, so I don't think he really knew what it was about until he actually got in the chair.
You can almost see the thought bubble above his head saying, "Hmmm, think I can make my escape??"
While Daddy got his teeth cleaned, Micah waited and watched.  He also got a book to look at called, "Going to the Dentist."  I think it actually should be called, "I'm at the Dentist - Now What?" but they didn't consult me on the choice.
With his cool protective shades. Secretly, he also has a Blues Brothers suit on underneath the paper gown thing.
First they counted to see how many teeth Micah has.  I think the final count was 20.
Then they used the flouride to clean his teeth.
All done!!
Tim says Micah totally sat like a pro the entire time - no crying, no fussing, no screaming about being there.  Which is a lesson to me that we often teach fear to our children proactively, and always unnecessarily.  A lot of kids dread the dentist, the doctor, and other helpful people because of bad experiences that their parents have had.  I'm grateful for a really good dentist, and I'm really glad that Tim and I were able to let Micah experience this on his own, without any issues imparted by us.

By looking at the pictures, Micah is indeed a pro at the dentist's chair. I'm so glad that he didn't cry or shout during the cleaning process. My son, Gabriel, isn't like that. His first dentist (Murfreesboro) visit is unsuccessful. He cried and kicked the hygienist. As a result, his dental cleaning will be rescheduled. Thankfully, the dentists in Murfreesboro, TN are so understanding and patient for what happened. Thanks for sharing the incredible post!
