My friend Harmony has breast cancer.

When she was first diagnosed, she was saying that she wouldn't make anyone shave their heads even though she was going to lose her hair during chemo. My immediate response was that I would shave my head with her. If you know me, you know that I can't resist a challenge and to me, this was a challenge.
It was a challenge to watch my friend, who has already had to overcome so much in her life, now have to deal with this.
It was a challenge to know how to support her through it.
It was a challenge to dare to think of myself in a very new way.
So last night, Harmony hosted her "Hair Is Overrated!" party, and lots of people turned out to support her. Many people streaked their hair pink to show their support in the fight against breast cancer.

When it was time to shave our heads, Harmony and I sat together.

Then the clippers came out.

And the shaving began!

Truthfully, I enjoyed how freeing it was.

Fun before the final cut. When else in my life will I have a mohawk?? Of course, I also never thought I'd shave my head...

The last little bit of shaving is done.

Bald really is beautiful, especially when you go bald with, and for, a friend.

Top things I like about having so little hair.
- Celine Dion's heart may go on, but my hair will go on! What I shaved off was able to be donated to Locks of Love, so someone who didn't voluntarily choose to go bald now won't have to be. This was a pleasant surprise; I didn't know that my hair would be long enough.
- Three words: Fastest. Shower. Ever. And fastest get-ready post-shower time too!
- The freedom of not worrying about what kind of "hair day" I'm going to have.
- Having less hair to care for than Tim. Who ever thought that would happen??? Micah now has the most hair out of anyone in our house.
- Looking even more like Liam. :)
